Professional performance is only as strong as the human system supporting it.

Professionals invest years developing their knowledge, expertise and leadership skills. Yet those capabilities can only be sustained when supported by equally strong physiological foundations.

Meet the founders

"I don't want people to sacrifice their health in order to succeed professionally. I believe the two should reinforce each other."

Ironically, I didn't always believe that.

If someone had told me twenty years ago that I'd dedicate my career to human performance, I probably wouldn't have believed them. I'm an engineer by training and spent almost two decades in the corporate world, including more than ten years as a leader in the financial sector. I genuinely enjoyed that environment; the pace, the complexity and the challenge of helping organisations achieve their goals and coaching my teams to become better at their job.

But over the years, I started noticing something that didn't quite add up.

The people around me weren't becoming less capable. If anything, they were more educated, more experienced and had access to better technology than ever before. Yet I noticed the same pattern in the people around me and in myself. I had less energy, recovered more slowly, found it harder to stay fully present under pressure and often felt like I was constantly "on." Some would call it survival mode.

My body was telling me something wasn't right.

I began asking myself whether the real challenge wasn't our motivation or our skills, but the human system underneath them. I couldn't let the question go.

Reading scientific research wasn't enough for me. I wanted to experience it myself.

I took courses and started experimenting with functional breathing, cold exposure and other forms of deliberate hormetic stressors and nervous system regulation techniques. Those experiences fundamentally changed how I viewed health, performance and even life itself.

For the first time, I experienced what it felt like to deliberately change my own state, not by changing my thoughts, but by changing my physiology. I realised that even in uncomfortable or high-pressure situations, we have far more influence over how we think, feel and perform than most people realise.

It also challenged some deeply held assumptions. For years, I had unknowingly lived as if I were just a brain attached to a body. I came to understand that the body isn't simply carrying the mind, it shapes how the mind performs. I also realised that sustainable performance isn't about constantly pushing harder. It's about building the capacity to regulate, recover and adapt. Stress isn't the enemy. Losing the ability to recover from it is.

As I continued studying physiology, breathing science, recovery and stress regulation, one idea became impossible to ignore: modern work has changed dramatically, but human biology hasn't. Organisations invest heavily in developing knowledge, leadership and technical expertise, yet spend remarkably little investment strengthening the biological systems that allow people to consistently apply those skills under pressure.

That realisation became the foundation of B-YOU and the 3R Performance System.

Today, I have the privilege of working with leaders and organisations who want to build stronger human foundations not simply to perform better next quarter, but to build careers and lives that remain healthy, meaningful and sustainable over the long term.

The competitive advantage is not how hard people can push.

It is how well they learn to regulate, recover, and reset.

I believe you can build a meaningful career while still having the energy to fully enjoy the life waiting for you outside your job.

For much of my career, I worked in Human Resources for large organisations, spending more than fifteen years supporting people, teams and leaders through change, growth and everyday challenges. It was work I genuinely loved because, at its heart, HR is about helping people thrive.

But over time, I found myself asking a difficult question.

Why were so many talented, committed and caring people struggling to sustain their energy?

I saw intelligent professionals giving everything they had at work while also trying to be present partners, mothers, daughters and friends. They kept all the balls in the air, met deadlines, supported everyone around them, and somehow expected themselves to keep going without ever slowing down. I recognised that same tendency in myself.

I realised that many of us had become incredibly good at looking like we were coping, while quietly running on empty.

That realisation stayed with me.

As I began exploring breathing, nervous system regulation, recovery and personal development, I experienced changes that completely shifted my perspective. For the first time, I understood that our physical and emotional state isn't simply something we have to endure, it is something we can actively influence.

One of the biggest discoveries for me was understanding the relationship between physiology and performance as a woman. Rather than fighting against hormonal fluctuations or seeing them as something that inevitably limited my energy, I learned how breathing, recovery, movement and lifestyle habits could help me work with my physiology instead of constantly pushing against it. It wasn't about controlling biology, it was about understanding it and supporting it.

That changed everything.

It also transformed the way I viewed performance. I no longer saw wellbeing as something to prioritise only after work was finished. I came to understand that taking care of ourselves is not separate from performing well, it is what makes sustainable performance possible.

After more than fifteen years in HR, including four years as an independent consultant, I realised I wanted to have a different kind of impact. Rather than supporting people once they were already struggling, I wanted to help them build the resilience, awareness and physiological capacity to thrive long before they reached that point.

That became one of the reasons B-YOU was born.

Today, I have the privilege of working with leaders, teams and individuals who want to perform at a high level without losing themselves in the process. My hope is that every person I work with discovers what I discovered: that caring for your body, understanding your physiology and creating moments of recovery are not acts of self-indulgence, they are the foundations of a long, healthy and fulfilling career.

We believe in science

Human performance should be understood before it is optimised.

presentation of health data

At B-YOU, every programme is grounded in physiology, evidence and measurable outcomes, not trends or short-term interventions.

Giorgio Bruins presentation

Our belief is simple:

When human performance improves, professional performance follows.

Together, Giorgio and Séverine combine more than 35 years of corporate leadership, HR and consulting experience with extensive certified training in physiology, breathing science, nervous system regulation and evidence-based performance optimisation.

"I had no idea that the way I breathe every day has so much impact on my energy levels and ability to focus."

Pierre, Director

"The trainers kept saying that change only happens when my body learns. Now I understand, I felt it in every cell. Wow, what an experience."

Mike, Partner

"We initially approached B-YOU for a wellbeing initiative. We quickly realised the conversation was really about performance."

Murielle, HR Director

"What we learned didn't stay in the training room. My team started using the techniques before important meetings and during demanding days. That's where I saw the real value."

Laetitia, CEO

"The pace between theory and practice was perfect. We actually can use these techniques in our everyday life. Thank you!"

Alessio, Partner

"This was the best training I had at PWC in 15 years. Because this training is about us and for us. I loved it. "

Anita, Director
